HOW DO I SCHEDULE AND PAY FOR THE CONSULTATION?
Scheduling and payment is done easily online. See our scheduling page to pick a day and time that works for you in the convenience of your home or office. Consults are paid for at the time of scheduling. Any time you want to reschedule, you can come back to the scheduling page to do so.
WHAT IS THE COST OF ONLINE EDUCATIONAL CONSULTATIONS?
Distance educational consultations cannot be billed to Insurance or HSA accounts, as these are not medical services. While we cannot provide a superbill, you will receive a receipt for your visit. All consultations are paid for upon scheduling.
30 min - $160 (new or return client appointment)
60 min - $300 (new or return client appointment)
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY CONSULTATION?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us at drstory@drmistystory.com. Please note, we have a 48 hour cancellation policy. Changes or cancellations less than 48 hours before your visit will incur a $50 late cancel/change fee. The full visit fee will be retained for clients who fail to attend their appointment, or fail to cancel prior to the appointment. We do understand there can be extenuating circumstances resulting in late cancellations or missed appointments; please contact us if this occurs.
WHAT IS A DISTANCE EDUCATIONAL CONSULT?
Dr. Story can provide you with information about your work up, diagnosis, and treatment to-date, and educate you regarding available research regarding treatment approaches. Dr. Story cannot order labs or imaging, diagnose your condition, or prescribe medications or treatments. She cannot act as your physician via educational consults. These consults should be considered educational in nature only, and do not substitute for proper medical care. Anything discussed during these consults should first be reviewed by your medical team and implemented only if deemed safe and appropriate.
IS DR. STORY MY DOCTOR?
If you are scheduling online educational consultations with Dr. Story please keep in mind, she is not your doctor. Her license will not allow a doctor-patient relationship without an in-person visit. She cannot write prescriptions, order labs, diagnose, write doctor’s notes/letters to 3rd parties, etc. This service is not billable to your health insurance provider. You should be informed that given that these consults are not considered medical care, this service is not covered by medical malpractice.

SHOULD I GET MY SIBO BREATH TEST DONE AND RESULTS IN BEFORE SCHEDULING WITH DR. STORY?
If you or your doctor feel you may have SIBO, consider having a lactulose breath test performed. Preferred is a Trio Smart test that measures all three gases that can lead to SIBO: hydrogen, methane and hydrogen sulfide. The next best option is a 3-hour test that measures both hydrogen and methane gas. These tests requires a lactulose prescription, so it must be prescribed by a licensed medical provider. If you or your provider do not have access to testing, you can complete a mail order test. See this page for companies that offer testing.
HOW LONG OF A VISIT SHOULD I SCHEDULE?
Initial consultations are typically scheduled for 60 minutes to discuss detailed history, testing, and labs. 30 minute initial consultations are available for less extensive history or questions. Return clients can schedule 15, 30 or 60 minute consultations depending on need. Please understand that Dr. Story is often booked through the day. If you are needing more time, please consider this when scheduling. She will likely not be able to extend visits during your appointed time. If time is extended, you will be asked to pay for the difference at the end of the visit; time is billed in 15 minute increments. If you are wanting to schedule increments above one hour, please email drstory@drmistystory.com as this will require manual scheduling.
WILL DR. STORY REVIEW MY RECORDS PRIOR TO VISITS?
When scheduling a consult, you are reserving Dr. Story’s time during that consult only. She cannot guarantee that she will be able to review extensive medical records prior to your scheduled time. Please ensure files are uploaded prior to your appointment to maximize time for review and discussion and schedule accordingly for the time you may need with Dr. Story. You are responsible for uploading any records that you would like to have reviewed during the consult via the Charm portal.
HOW CAN I SHARE RECORDS OR GET NOTES FROM THE CONSULT?
Dr. Story will share information from your consult via our online health portal, Charm. This is the same portal that you would have already added your profile information and performed your scheduling and payment through. Your portal on Charm is also where you will upload any records you want to share with Dr. Story. You will receive an email invite to this portal shortly after scheduling and can upload records at that time.
CAN I CONTACT DR. STORY BETWEEN VISITS FOR ADDITIONAL GUIDANCE OR URGENT QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS?
As a consultant, Dr. Story is not your doctor and cannot be immediately available for questions or concerns. If you are experiencing an urgent need, please contact your medical provider or go to urgent care. You are welcome to ask clarifying questions via the Charm Portal regarding information provided at your consult, however any extensive or new questions will require you to schedule an additional consult. We suggest you schedule recurring consults in advance if you feel you may have additional questions, as Dr. Story’s schedule can fill up quickly.
HOW DO I RESCHEDULE FOR FOLLOW UP VISITS?
Rescheduling is done in the same place you made the initial appointment, on this website. Please do not try to schedule follow up visits on the Charm Portal as this schedule is for patient visits, not client consultation appointments.
